Don Thoc Flower Festival 2025: Sea of flowers in full bloom on Fansipan peak.

08/08/2025

Running from August 9th to August 17th, this year's Don Thoc Flower Festival impressed with over 80,000 flowers painting Fansipan's sky orange-red. Alongside a series of vibrant cultural, artistic, entertainment, and recreational activities, imbued with the distinct colors of the highlands, it established Fansipan as an unmissable destination during Sa Pa's golden season.

"Sea" of Don Thoc flowers, the highest in Indochina

From August 9th to August 17th, when the ripe rice season dyes the terraced fields in Sa Pa golden, the Don Thoc Flower Festival 2025 takes place at the sacred peak of Fansipan, known as the "Roof of Indochina". At an altitude of 3,143m, Fansipan is donning a magnificent red-orange cloak, as clusters of Don Thoc flowers bloom brilliantly amidst the majestic nature of the Northwest region. The fresh air, high blue sky, and vast carpet of flowers invite tourists to enjoy the festival days.

The Gladiolus paddy flower festival is one of the special events not to be missed when visiting Sa Pa

Unlike the soft flowers of the lowlands, the gladiolus paddy flower possesses a sturdy, strong beauty. With tall stems, blooming in clusters of red-orange, the blooms curve gracefully like drooping ripe grains of paddy, this flower is likened to a symbol of the will to rise, of indomitable life amidst the harshness of heaven and earth. The people of Sa Pa affectionately call this flower the "muse" of the highlands, the flower of faith – because no matter the altitude, whether in cold mist or harsh sun, the gladiolus paddy flowers still bloom, just like the people here: resilient and tenacious.

Amidst the vibrant orange of tens of thousands of gladiolus paddy flowers are miniature scenes of corn bundles, rice stalls, small baskets, etc., from the locals. Each display corner evokes the simple working life of the Mong, Red Dao, Ha Nhi ethnic groups... in the highlands. Within that warm floral hue, there is the breath of the harvest season, dreams of a bountiful rice harvest, of a full meal after a day working the fields – all combine to form a familiar, warm scene.

The journey to conquer Fansipan is more splendid with a magnificent carpet of orange-red flowers

On the journey to experience the Guinness World Record-holding three-rope cable car to the peak of Fansipan, the scenery of the Northwest's golden season is rarely so magnificent, from the golden hues covering Muong Hoa valley to the brilliant orange hues at the sacred peak, like a painting drawn by a master artist.

Series of attractive events and entertainment activities for the festival season

The Dơn Thóc flower festival also brings a bustling festive atmosphere, where visitors can immerse themselves in the characteristic cultural colors of the Northwest highlands.

Throughout the event, vibrant cultural art programs will be continuously performed, inviting visitors to graceful ethnic dances, harmonizing with music inspired by flowers. Each performance is a story told through dance and sound, both cheerful and full of life, and filled with poetry, making a stroll through Fansipan feel like wandering into a land of dreams.

Art programs rich in identity will take place throughout the festival

At the Bell Tower area, the harvest flower arranging competition is a stop that attracts many tourists. Under the skillful hands of the locals and teams, vibrant orange flowers are meticulously arranged into many unique shapes. These works encapsulate both the beauty of nature and the dexterity of human hands to create a simple yet refined beauty, symbolizing the celebration of a bountiful harvest and gratitude to heaven and earth, following the age-old customs of Sa Pa.

Families with young children will also find memorable moments in activities such as making banh chung by hand, one of the most anticipated activities at this year's festival. Each square cake takes shape, not only a traditional delicacy but also a symbol of togetherness and fulfillment. The lively atmosphere, filled with laughter and cheers, promises to make for a vibrant and joyful festival season. Countless exciting activities await visitors of all ages when they come to the harvest flower festival on the peak of Fansipan during this time.

The Le hoi hoa don thoc (Rice Flower Festival) promises to bring memorable and inspiring moments

Amidst the honey-like sunshine of Sa Pa's golden season, within a cultural space rich with the soul of the mountains, the Le hoi hoa don thoc offers an inspiring experience. It is not just a journey to admire the natural scenery, but also an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the authentic and warm life of the Tay Bac (Northwest). Each flower blooming on the mountainside not only adds color to the Tay Bac sky, but also creates a complete experience, where nature, people, and culture meet during vibrant, fulfilling, and memorable festival days in the highlands.
